There are tons of articles with information on picking a niche market, so go ahead and do some research! The key is not necessarily just finding something that interests you, but something profitable.
You could have a hobby collection in mind, but it might be time to re-think your choices if it doesn’t make money!

Check Sales Volume

Before you pick a product, check its sales volume. By searching for your chosen product and checking its many reviews, you can do that. A great way to find products to sell on Shopify is by using e-commerce search engines such as Jungle-Scout or Merchant Words.
These websites show you how many people buy a particular product through Amazon or Walmart and are sold directly on Amazon’s website or Walmart’s marketplace also Alibaba, POD, drop-shipping, and print on demand.
You can easily sell your products on local markets.

Research Pricing

Before you even begin searching for products, it is an excellent idea to set your price ceiling.
This is a figure you don’t want your products or product line to go above; otherwise, you run into trouble with your margins. You can start by looking at other similar available products and pricing them out.
Having done that, decide how much of a margin you’re willing (and think is reasonable) to make on each sale, and stick with it when sourcing new products. Also, be sure not to get too greedy.

Look at Reviews

You’ll get a much better idea of what works and what does ‘t by looking at how people use or experience a product. Read reviews and comments from your target audience, not just from other people who like your niche.
For example, if you sell dog leashes, read reviews from pet owners who specifically need a leash that isn’t too thick or too thin.

Validate your product idea with a Facebook group or Instagram group

If you want to find a product idea that will sell, don’t be afraid to ask others what they think. If your friends and family are eager for you to create a product for them, consider making it for them and selling it on an e-commerce platform like Shopify.

First, search Facebook and Instagram for people talking about similar products you can join these groups (or look at their public pages) to understand what questions they have and identify common complaints.

Look for similar Products already selling on Amazon.

Researching popular products by looking at Amazon is a simple way to get ideas for your Store. The main reason you want to do this is that these products already have reviews and rankings.
You can look at these ranks and see how much money you’d need to make for it to be profitable.
For example, if you look at a product that has 50 sales a day, it’s easy to tell whether or not that product is thriving divide 50 by 0.99 cents (the going rate per sale), and it’s pretty evident whether or not that product is worth selling as well.

Do keyword research with Google AdWords Keyword Planner.

Once you have a few ideas for products that might be profitable, you need to do some research.
Spend some time on Google’s Ad-words Keyword Planner and figure out how many people are searching for each product every month. Even though keywords are relatively expensive, their average cost per click is often much less than Amazon’s Keyword Planner tool.

Once you’ve run your keyword searches, look up those terms in Amazon’s Product Advertising API and see how many sellers there are.

Use Product Analytics to determine the demand and competition of keywords.

If you want your Store to be profitable, it’s essential that you find products in high demand and competitively priced. That way, you’ll be able to make a decent profit from sales without taking significant risks with your capital.
The first step is finding product ideas using keyword research tools.
Product analytics can also help because they show the average monthly revenue per product. When searching for relevant keywords, look for products with less than $5k in monthly revenue per product.

What are my selling limits on Shopify?

The first thing you want to do is check your selling limits. This can be found by going into Online Store from your desktop computer’s left sidebar.
Once there, click Products. Now, select a product and scroll down until you see a link that says Your Selling Limits. Clicking it will open up a pop-up that contains all of your selling limits. Below I have provided an image of what it should look like.

How can I see what my selling limits are?

Once you have signed up for a Shopify plan, you will be able to see what your selling limits are by clicking on Store at the top of your screen and then Selling tools. At that point, you will be directed to a dashboard where you can see how many orders, sales, and products you have sold over time.
This is also where you can see what your limits are for each category, so that way it helps in planning out what products we should sell.

Can I create a Bundle of any products or only certain types of items?

You can create a bundle of any item available in your Store. The bundle must be made up of products from your inventory. If you sell someone else’s products, you cannot use them in your bundles.

Once you’ve found a product, it’s time to calculate your cost. This will help you determine whether or not it makes sense for you. We recommend trying out less than 25% of your average sale products not to scare off customers with high prices.
There are tons of resources online if you’re looking for inspiration or information on e-Commerce products, such as Amazon, Instagram, or Pinterest.
